A graduate of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Dr. Buka completed an internship in internal medicine at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York . He then completed a dermatology residency at the University of California , San Diego . Dr. Buka also holds a law degree from Fordham University in New York and speaks fluent Spanish.

 
Dr. Buka's particular expertise is pediatric dermatology, especially infantile conditions that are present at birth (congenital). He has conducted research and published widely on topics such as childhood acne, hemangiomas, connective tissue disease (i.e. lupus) in children and pigmented lesions. Dr. Buka speaks annually at the national meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology on techniques in pediatric dermatologic surgery. His articles have been published in textbooks as well as medical research journals. At The Dermatology Group, he is responsible for pediatric dermatology and pediatric dermatologic surgery.
