Most people have heard the buzz about CoolSculpting. Its popularity stems from the fact that most people struggle with areas of unwanted fat—even the most physically fit among us. And depending on where on the body the fat is located or even our genetic predisposition, it can be extremely difficult to reduce with diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is a great solution for reducing these areas of fat—in virtually any part of the body.

Are You Ready for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a completely noninvasive treatment for reducing unwanted fat in numerous areas of the body. Because it doesn’t use needles, incisions, or anesthesia, it’s well tolerated by most people. However, it’s not a cure-all for all types of unwanted fat. CoolSculpting works best on localized fat deposits. It’s not a weight-loss tool and it’s not appropriate for large-volume fat reduction. At this time, it’s also not a good idea to undergo CoolSculpting if you’re pregnant. However, if you’re at or near your ideal weight but still bothered by bulges in any of the following areas, CoolSculpting may be a good choice:

  • Upper arms
  • Abdomen
  • Inner or outer thighs
  • “Bra bulge” or back fat
  • Double chin
  • Flanks
  • Hips
  • Buttocks

Noninvasive VelaShape® treatments, which reduce fat and the appearance of cellulite, may be an alternative to CoolSculpting or used to enhance CoolSculpting results.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting uses FDA-cleared technology developed by Harvard scientists to freeze and destroy fat cells. It’s so effective because fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than other cells in the body, ensuring that they can be killed without harming skin, muscle, or other types of tissue. When you visit The Derm Group for a CoolSculpting treatment, you can feel confident that you’re getting an experience that’s both effective and comfortable.

CoolSculpting vs. Liposuction

CoolSculpting and liposuction are both fat reduction procedures that produce long-lasting results. Here’s how they differ:

  • CoolSculpting: nonsurgical; anesthesia and downtime are not needed; results develop gradually in the general treatment area.
  • Liposuction: surgical; anesthesia and downtime are needed; results are immediate (there will be swelling) and precise.

Your CoolSculpting Experience

At The Derm Group, CoolSculpting is administered in our comfortable offices by a qualified member of our team. Your CoolSculpting treatment starts in a private treatment room. Because the procedure doesn’t require anesthesia of any sort, we can get right to work! Your provider chooses the appropriate applicator that best fits your treatment area. Then, he or she places it over the bulge you’re having treated. Depending on the applicator, it may draw the bulge up with suction or simply lie flat against your skin. Once it’s securely in place, the device goes to work freezing fat cells, stimulating a natural cell death called apoptosis. In order to be effective, the CoolSculpting device must work at a sustained temperature for a set amount of time—about 30 minutes. During this bit of downtime, you can read, browse the internet on our Wi-Fi, listen to music, or just relax.

After your CoolSculpting treatment, you can go back to your normal daily activities immediately—there’s no need to take time away from the office or the gym.

Is CoolSculpting Painful?

Most patients do not consider CoolSculpting to be painful; although there is a feeling of suction, then intense cold, and possibly a prickly sensation before the treatment area goes numb. Afterward, treated areas may be slightly red, swollen, sensitive, or tingly initially; however, experiences vary between patients and areas treated. It is normal to be sore but not enough to disrupt your normal routine and workouts.

Do You See Immediate Results With CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting results develop gradually over a few months after treatment. Treated fat cells die and gradually exit the body through your body’s natural metabolic processes. You’ll see your results appear during this time, with full results appearing at the 3-month mark.

How Many Sessions Are Needed?

Although many CoolSculpting patients attain satisfying results after a single treatment, others opt to come in for a follow-up appointment to further enhance their outcomes.

Are Results Permanent?

CoolSculpting results can be permanent if you don’t gain weight. The fat cells that die after treatment do not grow back. The best way to maintain your improved contours is to exercise consistently and eat right.

How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?

The total cost of a CoolSculpting treatment can vary depending on a number of factors, including the number of areas treated and the size of the areas.
Prices can vary by location. Please call first to check.
